Lithuania - The World Bank project on Consumer Protection and Financial Literacy in Lithuania carried out in the State Consumer Protection Authority

The State Consumer Rights Protection Authority participated in the Project run by the World Bank on 'Consumer Protection and Financial Literacy in Lithuania'. The experts of the World Bank had a 2 weeks' mission in Lithuania and collected information from several national authorities and private organizations. In 2010 the World Bank submitted the Final Report on Consumer Protection and Financial Literacy. The Review not only looks at financial services in Lithuania but also refines set of good practices or benchmarks for use in reviewing consumer protection and financial literacy in any jurisdiction. It is expected that this work will prove helpful to the international community and those in emerging markets who seek to establish common ground for minimum good practices in financial consumer protection and financial literacy.

It is planned to hold a conference in Vilnius in March 2010 to discuss the relevant issues addressed in the Report and to present it to the public.
