Catch up on the FTC’s activities through the International Monthly newsletter.  The February issue summarizes a few recent consumer protection enforcement actions including a settlement with a comparison website that didn’t disclose paid rankings and used fake reviews and a lawsuit against a sprawling online global scheme that deceived consumers about government services.  It also includes announcements of the FTC’s regulatory reviews of the Funeral Rule and the Endorsements Guide, which address social media influencers and online ratings and reviews.  The February International Monthly spotlights the latest Consumer Sentinel data on fake check scams and breaks down the $232 million refunded to consumers in 2019.  (Of interest, the FTC paid $4.5 million to more than 33,000 consumers outside the United States between July 2018 and the present.)
